This doll collection was founded in Johannasburg, South Africa, as a way to preserve the disappearing cultures of tribes. The head molds were produced and hand painted by Peter Mthombeni, a renowned South African ceramicist, whose work is exhibited internationally. A collection was given to Mrs Clinton and Chelsea Clinton during their visit in 1997. Each doll should be regarded as a piece of art. Their importance is recognized by the South African government for the purpose of presenting them to visiting foreign dignatories.
R & R Traders is the sole "Distributor" in the United States. Sizes 22cm and 42 cm are available.
All 9 inch dolls are $69.00 each; 19 inch dolls are $150.00 each, except Ndebele
Bride and Zulu Man (add $10); Beani Dolls are $52 each.
Every doll is made by hand to perfection.
When visiting Washington D.C., these dolls can be seen at the Smithsonian
Institute's African Museum Gift Shop (202-786-2147) and the Charles H. Wright Museum of African Art in Detroit Michigan.
