Background and technique: Mr. Bell was born in the South African frontier town of Queenstown in 1948. His talent for drawing and painting was recognized early and he was sent to study with well known local artists and to private schools. Graduating in 1968, he began work as an illustrator with a leading architectural firm, continuing his development as an artist on the staff of various similar studios. Mr. Bell's studio and present advertising business was established in 1978.
"During the 80s, traveling in the wilds of the Okavango Swamps, Savanti Marshlands, Northern Botswana and Zimbabwe, had a significant impact on my work and I began painting wildlife for private and corporate clients. My wildlife work is in oils and pencil, and has been reproduced in calendars and corporate advertising."
